Pumpkinpalooza!

It’s well and truly fall and we all know what that means… It’s time for pumpkin errr’thang!

Lattes, pies, bread… you name it! If it’s edible you better believe that someone, somewhere is adding a hefty dose of pumpkin to it! Pumpkin is fall’s official mascot and I am not complaining one little bit! As if you needed any more excuses to jump on the pumpkin bandwagon, it’s worth noting that as well as being super tasty, pumpkin also packs a hefty nutritional punch!

Some of the health benefits;

1 | Just one cup of pumpkin will give you more than 200% of your required daily vitamin A intake! Great news for your peepers!

2 | If you’re resourceful and you save the pumpkin seeds, try roasting them and enjoying them as a handy snack! They are full of LDL cholesterol fighting phytosterols.

3 | Pumpkins are high in potassium making them a great post-workout choice. Gram for gram they actually have more potassium than a banana! Perfect for helping to balance out those electrolytes after a Grokker sweat fest!

4 | Pumpkin can aid with weight loss due to the low calorie, high fibre content keeping you feeling fuller for longer.

5 | The whole vitamin C / immunity debate is still going strong but aiming to eat good quality sources of Vitamin C will definitely not do you any harm! We should be aiming for around 60ml daily and one cup of cooked, mashed pumpkin provides around 12ml.

Here at Grokker we decided to do you all a favour and scour the interweb high and low to round up some of the best pumpkin recipes that we could find…
