3 Obstacles to Fitness that At Home Workouts Remove

In Grokker’s end of year survey I learned that the most popular wellness resolution was to do more at home workouts. Starting an at home workout regime or adding it to your existing gym schedule is a great way to stay on track with your new year’s resolution by removing 3 common excuses that block building a healthy habit. Be warned; if you keep reading, you’ll never be able to use these 3 excuses again!

“It’s too cold”

It’s hard enough convince yourself to get up early and workout or practice yoga. Add to that knowing that it’s cold, snowy or rainy out and maybe you’ll have to scrape frost off the windshield before you can even drive to the gym…It’s the perfect recipe for procrastination. With an at home workout, all you need to do is get yourself out of bed and over to your computer, phone, or tablet.

For some of us, scheduling a workout ahead of time makes it a lot more likely that we’ll do it. Luckily, Grokker’s new calendar feature lets you do just that! You can plan out all of your workouts for the entire month, and you’ll get an email with a link to your workout beforehand. No muss, no fuss – you’re ready to go.

“I don’t have time”

Let’s think about what a typical trip to the gym looks like. You need to get your workout clothes, commute to the gym (and don’t even try to battle rush hour traffic), find parking, change, wait for equipment, get there early to nab a spot in your favorite class, etc etc. You waste so much time with all of this nonsense, that more than half of your time “working out” isn’t doing anything for your health.

With at home workouts, you avoid this mess. The time that you don’t spend dealing with the gym can be put towards a longer workout, or other things you love doing. Not only that, the trainers in at home workout videos are likely a lot better than the ones at the local gym.

“I can’t afford it”

No. You can’t afford to NOT exercise. Luckily, at home workouts are the fraction of a cost of a gym membership, and you need very little equipment. Here are 5 great pieces of equipment for your home gym. If you’re really strapped on cash, guess what? You don’t even need equipment. There are plenty of bodyweight only workouts for you.

There you go. That’s it. You can never use these excuses again. I guess it’s time to start working out at home! Luckily you have Grokker, which puts thousands of workout videos at your finger tips.
