Ok, ok! We know how cliched that sounds but stick with us here…
Whilst we’re not expecting you to sprout wings, lose 5 stone, ditch every bad habit you have, meditate every single day for the rest of your life, etc! We do have a few nuggets of knowledge that when utilised effectively will yield awesome results and leave you feeling like the best version of yourself, possible!
A habit takes 6 weeks to form, that’s only 6 weeks of reminding yourself to do something before it becomes part of the norm and ‘something you just do’. 6 weeks you guys, that’s really no time at all!
The New Year really does bring with it a sense of new purpose and stronger than usual resolve, no it doesn’t last forever but you can capitalise on it by having a plan in place and starting those healthy habits whilst you’re still in an uber motivated state. If you can just stick with them throughout January, you will be well on your way to sticking with them for life!
People with a plan are much more likely to succeed than those without. Plans and programmes provide a framework that enables any fitness or wellness goals to be progressive in nature (i.e. get harder / longer / faster / heavier as you get fitter / stronger). They also keep the workload even and allow much needed time for rest and recovery helping to avoid injury and burnout. All too often people start January 1st at 100mph, they go to the gym and hammer themselves for two hours at a time, only to be exhausted (or injured) by the 6th so then they take a day off, or two, which often turns into 5 and then before they know it they haven’t been in the gym for two weeks, it’s freezing cold outside and that sparkly New Years resolve is nowhere to be found. The end. True story.
As we alluded to above – Little, often and well thought out is the key to success here. You won’t see results straight away, some will however see results quicker than others, it’s important to remember that we are all different and shouldn’t play the comparison game. If you put the work in day after day, even when you don’t feel like it, you will see the results you want and need.

Then, put that piece of paper on your desk or on your fridge, somewhere you will see it every day and be reminded of what it is you’re working towards.
