1. Hakka Chinese Noodles with Pork & Mushroom Sauce
Hakka Noodles
This rustic comfort dish uses common Hakka ingredients–pork, mushrooms, and Chinese chives–to create a savory topping for a main course serving of noodles. The addition of dark soy sauce, which is aged and blended with molasses, imbues the noodles with an intense dark, deep, rich taste and color, making it a unique, filling dish to serve for family and guests after a long day.
2. Hakka-Style Chinese Chow Mein with Shrimp
Shrimp Chow Mein
This recipe was created by Hakka (Han Chinese) chefs in India for their Indian customers. It is very much like a basic Chinese chow mein or lo mein, except for the generous addition of fresh chiles and pepper. If you like it even hotter, serve with a small bowl of soy sauce, seasoned with minced fresh chiles. If you like it mild, leave out the chiles and reduce the black pepper. In this Grokker Premium video Linda demonstrates this recipe that she learned from Peter Tseng at Tangra Asian Fusion Cuisine in Queens, NY, where they call it Garlic Noodles.
3. Crispy Shrimp Chow Mein Recipe
Crispy Shrimp Chow Mein Recipe
There is nothing better than prawns coated with something crispy. Usually its breadcrumbs, but we're using prawn crackers... a double whammy of prawn! We also crisp them up in the oven...much healthier than deep frying :) Our prawns are served with wok fried noodles and crunchy veg!
