How to Throw the Perfect Summer BBQ

With summer in full swing and 4th of July just around the corner, everyone dusts off their grills and begins to prepare for the ultimate barbeque season. From close friends and family to neighbors and coworkers, just about anyone can enjoy the perfect backyard kick-back. Here are some tips for throwing a BBQ to remember!

1. Pick a Theme and Stick to It

Whether you dress it up as a Hawaiian Lual, a Mexican Fiesta or you simply decide on a fashionable color scheme, make sure to give your BBQ party some sort of flare. Your guests will appreciate the decor and people are always looking for an excuse to dress up. To get the most out of your theme, be sure to apply it to the food and drink as well, not just the ambiance.

2. Stray from the Staples

Don’t be afraid to switch out the classic burgers ‘n dogs for less traditional BBQ foods like Grilled Pizza or Carne Asada Tacos. Also make sure to add some vegetarian options to your selection because it's not likely that everyone's a meat-lover. Don’t underestimate the power of some grilled veggies or mushrooms in boosting your meal to the next level!

3. Make a Killer Playlist

No truly quality BBQ has come without the right tuneage. While it may seem obvious, make a playlist that’s catered toward your guests and your party. The music you’d listen to with your college buddies is much different than what you’d choose out for a meal with your in-laws. As a general rule of thumb, country music and classic rock selections work well for summer get-togethers no matter who's on the guest list.

4. Get Creative with Your Drinks

Your go-to instinct may be to pick up the standard assortment of beers and sodas, but seriously consider complementing your party with a fresh summer drink. Regardless of whether you decide to make a watermelon mint sangria or even some cantaloupe agua fresca that the kids can enjoy, both you and your guests will love the change of pace! Also, don’t forget to buy enough ice ahead of time because no one likes a lukewarm beer!
