Head of Marketing

Are you an expert Product Marketer or Demand Gen Genius that is ready to own all of Marketing? Do you have a passion for Wellness and changing the way people receive and engage with innovative content? If so, we should talk.

As Head of Marketing, you should have a strong background in both executing and delivering successful lead generation programs to attract enterprise clients, ideally in a SaaS-based company as well as owning a GTM strategy. Creating content, positioning and messaging and taking our brand to the next level is key. But don’t worry, you’ll have others on your team who will support you in these efforts. This is a hands-on, strategic role that requires someone with a thorough understanding of demand generation, marketing platforms and program analytics. The ideal candidate is a highly-motivated self-starter who can maintain a balance between being strategic and executing at high quality and pace. You have a bias towards action with an ability to ruthlessly prioritize. You are comfortable with data and have a strong focus on trackability, measurement, and ROI. With that, you should be comfortable at the table with the CEO/COO thinking strategically while also being able to execute (aka roll up your sleeves and do while also growing a team). Here’s a bit more about what we’re looking for:

Specific Tasks and Deliverables

Branding

  • Verify the initial target market segment and “use case(s)” for Grokker’s flagship product lines.
  • Develop messaging and brand and validate with user research (e.g., through social-media sites and A/B testing).
  • Manage daily relations with Grokker’s PR agency, develop launch strategy, messaging and coordinate launch activities and publications.
  • Develop and update language and content for Grokker website, oversee digital assets create a repository that is easy to access as we grow.
  • Plan and run advertising campaigns on leading social sites; identify optimal levers and channels for SEM and SEO success.
Growth Marketing and Sales Support
  • Develop Grokker’s product marketing requirements based on competitive analysis and market drivers.
  • You’ll launch and scale new demand generation channels, own end-to-end email marketing and CRM, nurture prospects in various stages of the funnel, optimize and further build our marketing technology stack, and ensure that the sales team is set up for success with a rich pool of high-quality inbound leads.
  • You’ll partner closely with the rest of the Marketing team to launch new campaigns, refine our value proposition and deliver efficient growth. You will have three others on your team that will help you manage database marketing, content marketing, events, ABM plays, third party and other programs.
  • Create quantitative and qualitative insights to inform communications strategy and shape go-to-market plans and product positioning. Define, build, and handle brand guidelines for use by internal teams, agencies, and partners to represent Grokker’s brand consistently across market segments and geographies.
Marketing and Thought Leadership
  • Work closely with Grokker team leadership to hone marketing strategy, positioning statements and marketing materials; and adapt to trends with product sales and support.
  • Establish Grokker and its executives as leading source of information and practical tools in its product space. Write case studies, white papers, administer surveys, create local and national events to position Grokker as the thought leader in the nascent culture and well-being space.
  • Serve as primary interface between Grokker executives and agency partners, vendors, analysts, and any external marketing partners.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA or BS in Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • 5-10 years experience leading new-product, branding, product positioning, and messaging for a consumer and/or B2B startup/tech company.
  • Proficiency with marketing and testing through leading social-media sites to validate use cases and target market(s).
  • High degree of comfort with structured and unstructured data sets; excellent analytic skills; experience with commonly-used market-research and survey tools to determine marketing strategy along with short-term and long-term direction.
  • Track record of fostering a new product or new brand from the earliest stages of development to successful launch and sustained growth.
  • Excellent project and people management skills (familiarity with project-management discipline, tools, hiring and managing a team).
  • Familiarity with demand forecasting and structuring multi-channel and multi-product growth models.

Senior Content and Communications Manager

Are you an expert B2B Content Writer who is passionate about creating the tone, voice and overall content for a growing company? Would you jump at the chance to develop and own content across multi-channel platforms? If so, Grokker is looking for you to play a leading role on our marketing team. In this critical role, you will work cross-functionally crafting Grokker’s marketing messages, refining our positioning and messaging with other marketing leaders , research and draft white papers as well as case studies, and constantly update our web presence, collateral, email marketing campaigns and much much more. If this sounds exciting and you have a proven track record of producing content that generates thought leadership, we should talk.

Key responsibilities
  • Build and manage a rich content/editorial calendar that attracts a qualified audience to our owned properties (including blog posts, whitepapers, ebooks, reports, webinars, infographics, etc.).
  • Grow new leads, including marketing-qualified leads, by converting site traffic through calls-to-action, landing pages, and lead generation content (including offers). Optimize our marketing automation and lead nurturing processes through email, content, and social channels.
  • Establish closed-loop analytics with sales to understand how our inbound marketing activity turns into customers, and continually refine our process to convert customers.
  • Work alongside internal marketing, sales and product teams to help distribute content that educates and entertains our audience and supports our annual marketing goals.
  • Drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from our social network presence.
  • Explore new ways to engage and identify new social networks to reach our target buyers. You will be our ear to the ground to route the appropriate marketer, sales rep, and/or support rep to social conversations.
  • Grow our subscriber base by providing them with regular, helpful content that’s aligned with their needs and interests.
  • Collaborate with designers, product marketers, sales professionals, and external influencers and industry experts to produce relevant content that meets the needs of both key stakeholders and our audience.
  • Convince others that your creative ideas are worth investing time and effort in. This role is at the core of the marketing team, and others will rely on your work every single day.
Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications or equivalent work experience.
  • Write various types of articles on a wide range of topics, provide feedback to other contributors, and edit other writers’ content.
  • Optimize content for search engines and lead generation and contribute to long-form content projects such as ebooks, webinars, conference content and presentations, speaking engagements, thought leadership, etc.
  • Excellent communicator; a dual-minded approach: you’re highly creative and an excellent writer with mad Powerpoint, Twitter, and LinkedIn news-making skills but can also be process-driven, think scale, and rely on data to make decisions.

Backend Engineer -- San Francisco Bay Area

We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to help us grow our client/server platform for web and mobile users by creating high-performance distributed back-end systems. If you care about fitness, yoga, mindfulness, or eating well and want to blend your passion with your work then Grokker is the place to be.

Grokker's site and apps are built using the following technologies:

  • JavaScript with Node.js for our server infrastructure
  • MongoDB
  • React Native for mobile platforms
  • Native languages for TV platforms (Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV)

We develop using an iterative approach, though we are not dogmatic about methodology. Everyone in the company is responsible for coming up with great ideas that will become part of our product. Don't expect to be handed a spec and go off and build it for months; instead, we establish our goals together and support each other to reach them one piece at a time.

We believe in good code quality and building for the long term. We enforce coding standards and have regular code review sessions in order to maintain quality, share knowledge, and reduce duplication of effort.

About You
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or relevant software development experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to understand systems at varying levels of abstraction
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix administration
  • Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
  • Good understanding of security and networking/routing/firewalls
  • Experience with web applications, databases (SQL and NoSQL), and distributed systems
  • Experience with Node.js or traditional web server scripting languages a plus
  • Experience with building microservices, and data services and pipelines
  • Experience with Docker or other container technologies a plus
  • Experience with setting up internal systems using open source projects

Must-Haves
  • Sales executive with 3 to 6 years achieving and exceeding territory quotas
