On a rainy day in 1998, Sierra found a book on Yoga and Pranayama in a mud puddle. The next day she suffered a serious car accident severely limiting her mobility for 6 months and putting her in chronic pain for nearly 2 years. It was this book and a daily commitment to pranayama that inspired her to heal through holistic methods, avoid surgery and depression. It was through the practice of Yoga, meditation and Kriya from the Himalayan Institute and a local Buddhist sangha, that she found true healing. Through this process she realized how community is at the heart of healing & transformation and learning to ask for help is a large part of the process. She is also an ovarian cancer survivor and attributes the daily practice of yoga (including meditation & pranayama), nutritional wellness and creative writing to sustain a healthy, cancer-free life. In her yoga classes, she joins together a willingness to sync breath, movement, and alignment. Sierra brings a peaceful presence, calming energy and physical challenge to each class.
