About
The original power vinyasa incorporating traditional sun salutations and a set series of posture, dristi, bandha, and breath. There is a fixed progression of posture, moving from the primary series, through the sixth. In Sanskrit, Ashtanga translates to 8 limbs. There are 8 distinct branches to the path of enlightenment. The 8 limbs is a compilation of strict ethics, personal intention, posture, breath work, and concentration which allow the individual to burn through samskaras, or physical and emotional knots. Through physical discipline, concentration, and strict moral conduct, the Ashtanga method allows ultimate purification of the self.Ashtanga Tips
