Ingredients:
1 pound ground lamb
1 tbsp fresh oregano, chopped
1 tbsp fresh mint, chopped, plus extra for garnish
4 tsp lemon zest, divided
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 red onion, chopped
1/2 cup grated cucumber
1 lemon, zested and juiced
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1 tbsp salt
1 & 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
Olive oil, for grill
2 pita pockets
Directions:
1.Preheat griddle brushed with a thin layer of oil to medium-high.
2.Combine ground lamb with 2 teaspoons oregano and mint, 2 cloves garlic, 3 teaspoons salt and 1 teaspoon black pepper. Form into 1/2-pound patties. Cook burgers 4 minutes per side.
3.While the burgers are cooking combine Greek yogurt with remaining 2 teaspoons oregano and mint, lemon zest and juice, garlic, red onion, grated cucumber, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
4.Warm pitas on griddle and then cut in half. When the burger is cooked remove to warmed pita pocket, top with tzatziki sauce and torn mint.
