Ingredients:
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
2 tbsp BBQ sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp molasses
1 package of tempeh
¼ olive oil
½ onion, diced
2 tsp spice rub
½ tsp chili flakes
1 tsp sea salt
1 cup cooked brown rice
1 medium beet, cooked and chopped
2 tbsp wheat germ or oat bran
Sesame seed buns
Lettuce
Tomato
Avocado
Diretions:
1. Combine hoisin sauce, BBQ sauce, soy sauce and molasses in a bowl and set aside. In a medium skillet, heat olive oil
2. Crumble tempeh into skillet along with diced onions. Add spice rub, chili flakes and sea salt
3. Cook for 3-5 minutes, breaking up the tempeh pieces as you go. Set aside and let cool. Combine tempeh mixture with remaining ingredients in a food processer
4. Add in 2 tablespoons of the Hoisin/BBQ sauce. Pulse until blended and patties can be formed. Using damp hands, form mixture into 4-6 patties
5. Grill Burgers on a grill or in a saute pan for 3 minutes per side, basting with remaining Hoisin-BBQ sauce as you go. Serve on a sesame seed bun with lettuce, tomato and avocado.
